I wound up with over 35 years with CBS in New York and Los Angeles.  I came from Detroit where my major interest was in dramatic radio because when I was young, "The Lone Ranger", "The Green Hornet", "Sgt. Preston of the Yukon" (formerly "Challenge of the Yukon", and one unsuccessful series "Bob Barclay, American Agent" all originated from the studios of WXYZ.  Another series, "The Hermit's Cave" originated at WJR, the CBS clear channel Detroit affiliate.  A lot of notables came through the WXYZ  radio personnel (such as Doug Edwards, Bob Hite, Mike Wallace, John Hodiak, Casey Kasem and more).  There's a great reference book on WXYZ's history.  It's called "WYXIE WONDERLAND" by Dick Osgood, Popular Press 1981.

Lots of Lone Ranger and Green Hornet stories.  I personally took acting lessons from the man who played Tonto.  Not an Indian at all, but rather an eighty year old bald-headed Irishman, named John Todd.  And as for Kato on the Green Hornet, not only had he been changed from Japanese to Filipino during WWII, but when I was associated with the group, the part was being played by a young Jewish actor named Seymour (Mickey) Tuchow (later, Michael Tolan of the movies).
